Florida is recognized as being one of the top three states with the best workforce training programs. The state offers three different programs for expanding or relocating businesses to train their workers. Additionally, throughout the year FloridaWorks applies for training grants that they make available to employers, employees, or job seekers in Alachua and Bradford Counties. Check back often to see if new funding is available.
The Workforce Investment Now (WIN) grant is currently available to employed workers who meet income criteria. This is an opportunity for employees with dependents to improve their skills and earning potential, making it easier to take care of their families. The WIN grant may include transportation assistance, tools and even child care costs. To find out if you’re eligible or to apply, contact a FloridaWorks One-Stop Career Center.
Job seekers who meet specific income criteria are eligible for Individual Training Accounts (ITAs). An ITA can be used by a job seeker for training that leads to a degree, certificate or employer-recognized skill certification. The training must enable the individual to secure employment in a targeted industry, including life sciences, information technology or construction. The maximum dollar amount for each ITA will be determined annually. More information is available through FloridaWorks One-Stop Career Centers.
