This Tuesday, November 18, 2008, Neutral Gator, a local carbon-offsetting non-profit, will hold a benefit auction of 100% recycled “carbon-neutral” art. The event will take place at the Sharab Lounge (109 South Main St) at 9PM and is free and open to the public. The proceeds from the auction will go to Neutral Gator and C-REX (Carbon Reduction and Energy Exchange). Both organizations are involved with partnering to offset carbon usage. Neutral Gator is responsible for making all Florida Gator 2008 home football games carbon neutral by creating projects that offset the energy expenditures calculated for each game. The money is expected to assist with one of Neutral Gator’s many projects which include replacing incandescent bulbs with CFL’s, reforesting wildlife habitats, reclaiming methane from landfills, and advocating for solar power on the UF campus.
